Meet the Artist
Desiree Hanau is a Mexican-American artist based in San Diego. She has a passion for natural life where she documents the natural habitat in an artistic way such as painting and drawing local animals in their environment. Hanau finds that creating art related to nature is her way of taking a moment to appreciate every living species and being curious for the beauty of life. Her primary focus is on birds due to the significant meaning they have such as bringing peace and the feeling of freedom. Through her art, she hopes to bring inspiration, appreciation, and awareness of protecting natural life because of how important it is to our everyday environment. Along with her bird art, Hanau also enjoys painting pet portraits.
Hanau studied at San Diego City College for a couple of years, where she received her associate's degree in visual and Performing Art, then transferred to San Diego State University graduating with a Bachelors in Studio Art. She is now focusing on her small business, creating pet portraits, and focusing on her art that highlights birds in their natural habitats. She currently has art available at the Visitor Center in the Tijuana Estuary.
